B cells make antibodies ("neutralizing" means they 'kill' virus if put into cell culture with them) & T cells (cell-mediated). Memory B & T cells get triggered if they see pathogen again & fight it. Strong responses even w/ mild infection bode well for natural & vaccine immunity
