Have seen lots of people recommending Xmas TV and Netflix shows but not many offering up radio, so here are a dozen things from the last week or so you might enjoy.
1. The Xmas Day edition of @wittertainment was full of joy and an interview with Pete Doctor about the new Pixar movie Soul on Disney Plus. 146 minutes of @simonmayo & @kermodemovie to keep you going until they return on Jan 15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000ql28
2. @simonmayo has one of his music hats on over at @greatesthitsuk. The Album Chart Show has become an essential weekly listen and includes a nose through listeners album shelves and a feature on collectibles along with loads of great album tracks https://planetradio.co.uk/greatest-hits/player/143801325/?region=gho
3. Meanwhile @kermodemovie was on @scalaradio on Boxing Day playing his top film scores of 2020 in a Xmas edition of his regular weekly film music show. https://twitter.com/ScalaRadio/status/1342866101705662464?s=20
4. On Sunday @themarkrad and @stuartmaconie were presenting top TV music on @bbc6music. Including Sporanos, House, The Wire and Twin Peaks. The only time you will hear a segue from Normal People into Miami Vice https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000qm2r
5.Really enjoyed listening to @katiemelua presenting her selection of tracks on @jazzfm on Xmas Eve. Perfect scheduling, Diana Krall’s Night and Day has never sounded better. Listen in colour here https://planetradio.co.uk/jazz-fm/player/142122247/ https://twitter.com/jazzfm/status/1342117828086951942?s=20
6. @alicelevine has been setting up camp at @bbcradio4 lately. Last night’s Pick of the Pods looked back on the year and included chats with @louistheroux and @Maitlis. It’s a really good listen but stays within the @BBCSounds confines. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000qlqb
7. Only halfway through listening to A Promised Land on @bbcradio. 10 parts taken from the Barack Obama audiobook. I’m unlikely to read the 700 page tome, but this has been a treat and tempts you to listen to the full audiobook. What a voice. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000q57g
8. Tuned into @timesradio last night to hear their best entertainment interviews of 2020. It's been great to have @philwilliams back on the air, and the station which launched in June has established itself as a home for intelligent conversation https://www.thetimes.co.uk/radio/show/20201227-3518/2020-12-27
BBC Local is often overlooked, but this Christmas Celebration by @bbcrb, led by @jessrudkin, is a fine collection of music and readings in both audio and video, a remarkable achievement given how restrictions changed a lesson in resilience for us all http://bbc.in/christmascelebration
10. Meanwhile @magicfm put on a panto. With all the presenters. And Christopher Biggins. And @RickAstley. Oh no they didn’t. Oh yes they did. https://twitter.com/magicfm/status/1342790874439278594?s=20
Was so looking forward to the Muppets on @bbcradio2 on Xmas Day and it didn’t disappoint. Presented by @OJBorg and produced by @Helen_ECW, it's packed with interviews and great Muppet music, an absolute treat. Mahna Mahna. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000qln5
Finally Front Row on Radio 4 tonight is about the popularity of poetry in lockdown. Am assuming it will include a nod to this. Frank Skinners Poetry Podcast which has been a highlight of my year, there are 12 episodes with more to come. https://podfollow.com/frankskinnerpoetry
