If you write on Medium and are signed up for the MPP (to earn for your work) and you are a non-US resident, it is worth re-filling out your tax form.

After spending 4 months on the platform being subject to a 30% tax cut that goes to the US I have now just learned

..that UK writers are exempt from paying this 30%, alongside a handful of other nations.

What you need to do is do a new tax form (the W-8BEN one for non-US residents) - provide your national insurance number and check the box that says

..you are exempt from paying international tax because of the country you live in. The UK is listed to select.

After this, your earnings rightfully so, should not be subject to a 30% tax that's going to the US.
