Okay this might seem pretty arrogant but after 5 years of self teaching on prostitution statistics and law I get so frustrated in conversations with people because they don't have the basic legal definitions of relevant terms to make meaningful arguments (eg legal def of pimping)
They say: "But pimping is illegal." And I say: "No it isnt. It's legal to tell a woman when to 'work', for what prices and to force her to be naked in the brothel at all times. Taking 49% of her money is legal. And in practice those limits aren't even stuck to as gov confirms."🤦🏻‍♀️
They say: "Forced prostitution is illegal." And I say: "No it isnt. The only way she can charge a pimp for being exploited is if she can prove she was forced to do specific 'service' for specific men. But you can get rich off of a woman and never meet that definition."
Also the gov explicility said that not having a residence and work permit is not a sign of exploitation (insanity). Being very poor is not a sign of exploitation (just a bunch of slum entrepreneurs amIright?). Being locked up isnt force if she still had a slim chance of escape.
The people in those conversations as well as the governments do not understand how pimps operate. They dont have to lock women up and chain them to radiators. You could meet a pimps victim in the super market. They control her through trauma bonds and fear of being killed.
Also the absolute idiocy of assuming that if a woman doesnt have a pimp she lives in a totally different realm to all those who do. Not true. Literally in the same legal brothels and "escort agencies". Literally side by side. Youd know if you spent 5 seconds to #ListenToSurvivors
It's true we dont have great statistics but that's 1) because the industry defies regulation and attempts at counting and 2) because 2 decades gov denied there is a need to take a closer honest look and the women aren't vulnerable and what do you mean we should count the dead?
Anyway it's so tiring arguing with people who cant even name the countries women are from. You want to tell me most choose it? Explain why German women dont commonly choose it then. There is a giant hole in your analysis where basic knowledge of the subject should be. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
You wanna tell me rape is illegal so women are protected? Why dont I know a single woman who successfully convicted a man then? This is hard enough for nonprostituted women to get through. Women in prostitution have many extra barriers. Also they're still assumed to be nymphos.
Legalisation says: "Here is a group of women who just love to fuck so much they wanna do it 5-10 times a day with men they have likely never met often in unfamiliar locations." No surprise then the public thinks #prostitution comes from female nymphomania, not male entitlement.
Finally the grotesque assumption continues to be made that individual women suing individual men will fix the most lethal industry on the planet. That's sick individualism to me. Letting impoverished women shoulder that burden. Defend yourself empowered lady! Business smarts lol
I support harm reduction but not as the sole solution. Fundamentally we cannot surrender any woman to an industry where she runs a realistic risk of battery, rape or murder at the hands of the "customer" or "boss". Its fundamentally unacceptable. But that apparently is moralism🤷🏻‍♀️
