That report on birth defects.. when you are young you never understand just how important planned pregnancy is beyond being financially ready to have a kid, but the body also needs to be prepared to carry one and it takes a lot
For instance you should be on folic acid ( diet or supplements)months before you get pregnant, normally by the 12th week it’s a little late..
But most people don’t know they are pregnant until they missed their period and by then some parts of the baby have formed..
Your dental health also affects your pregnancy snd when you are pregnant the window is so short like two or three months to have all your teeth fixed snd this is in the second trimester
You need to wean your body of retinoid /retinol a year or six months before getting pregnant ( I was shocked a lot of countries have this PSA in their health ministry websites Kenya doesn’t have )
If you are overweight chances of gestational diabetes is up there, you have to be tested for it I think on the fifth or sixth month, also sea food ( deep sea) is a no go zone coz of mercury but you still need omega for your foetus
Also here is the thing a lot of young girls don’t go to the gynae unless there is an issue, the culture of going to a gynae at a young age is not instilled in us by most of our moms, understandably
Also nairobi everything is poison , the water the skin care the food.. you might as well stuff yourself with fries instead of a healthy diet .
