Here’s why I won’t support the army:

They need to understand that they do not belong in politics, governance, nor policy-making. Yes, they can be consulted for policies, but that’s about it. They cannot and must not determine Pakistan’s geopolitical strategy. Moreover, they’re>
not elected so we can’t hold them accountable. Pak army is consistently obsessed with national security. Their worldview is extremely myopic because of this one-dimensional reading of global/regional affairs. So much so that even for internal policy-making their myopic lens >
makes them think in the dichotomy of NatSec - patriot v/s traitor. This is an exclusivist mindset and does not belong in this day and age of technology where there is increasing power in the hands of individuals. That’s why Pak army finds itself REACTING to useless online >
fights that they call “5th Gen Hybrid Warfare”.

Pakistan’s geopolitical strategy needs to be overwhelmingly centered around the economy and trade relations with immediate neighbors and the world at large. And this starts with inclusion at home. You cannot alienate Baloch >
and others by forcing this ‘Pakistaniyat’ that just did not exist pre-1947. Pakistan’s strength is in its diverse ethic provinces and NOT in its authoritarian conformance to an identity that just is inorganic. We have it all wrong and it stems from this culture in the armed >
forces that works only for military jawans - submitting to a hierarchy and bonding on a shared value system. This cannot work for the masses. This fauji value/ethics demands submission and “unity of command”. And no province or its people will buy that. Not even Punjabis.
This is why Faujis will always have draconian internal policy directives. It’s all about “command and control”. They are just wired that way!

So, no, the military MUST be opposed till they get this through their thick skulls. They couldn’t win this when there was no >
social media in 1971. If they are thinking that they can control the narrative in the online space, they are just absolutely mistaken. You can’t win this fight especially if it’s your own people who get alienated by your draconian policies. Heck, these days kids don’t want to >
trust their parents’ choice for their life partners, but we expect that Big Brother (The State) can force compliance?

You GHQ dudes are out of your minds! Step back and let the people figure it out. We will do whatever it takes to create win-win outcomes. You toe our line.
