then we get past the "jack self pitying" part and swing STRAIGHT into a typical white-person-done-harm attitude of actually it's other people who didn't UNDERSTAND my GOOD INTENTIONS, that's the real problem here.
and then do a 180 from the self pitying to be like "actually i think traumatizing all these people was good for ME, personally, so i'm glad we all got something out of this today! thank gd i got to use other people's pain as lessons in MY self growth"
after which bc this song is a ROLLERCOASTER trip thru whiteness we take a leap into "rewarding white mediocrity" territory with jack's stunning conclusion "i may have just fucked over many people's lives but the important thing is i jump back in and try TWICE as hard next year"
and after that entire trip through the stages of shitty white people dealing with the fact they've fucked up he ends on... one. single line. JUST ONE LINE. that is like... wait. do you think... i should try and fix the harm i did? just an afterthought the real victim was jack ofc
this was going to be the conclusion to my thread but someone beat me to my own punch: obviously we didn't need any of that to tell us jack was white, we knew it no matter the plot bc tim burton explicitly only likes to cast white leads
