Elsa made a joke, and Kenyans went after her looks for days.

And your fave woke bros will still be like "I don't think Elsa is disliked because of colorism" https://twitter.com/ntvkenya/status/1279095278302306309
This interaction aside, we have to question why we are so quick to deny someone's reality. We don't know Elsa, we don't know her experiences.

Ama ni wivu tu.
"Elsa is playing victim"

Ah bruh. Elsa is headed to LA, at 19. That's what a victim looks like to you? Victim of what? KOT crabs in a bucket mentality.
Someone said Kenyans are like that father who leaves when a child is young and still wants credit when the child succeeds.

With Elsa, KOT was worse. Super abusive to her and now,

"how dare she say we didn't support her? How dare she not be grateful? Who does she think she is?"
I am old enough on this app to remember the insults directed at Lupita Nyong'o when Shuga came out - and the denial of colorism that followed when she talked about experiencing colorism as an actor on Kenya.
Not liking someone's comedy style =/ insulting them at every opportunity.

Not liking someone's comedy =/ tweeting how you dislike their comedy each time they succeed at something.
I'll always add this one cos sitaki msahau.

A woman, irked that feminists support Elsa, went after her and folk piled on for days. Even your favorite wheelbarow economist found it funny.

Folk old enough to be Elsa's grandpa were tweeting.
I don't need to love Elsa's comedy style to unreservedly support her. The fact that she's 19 and unafraid is đź’Ż reason for me to stan.

But I do. My house loves her. My daughter wants to be "that girl who eats crisps every day".
I encourage my nieces to try new things. And Elsa is yet another example I use and will continue to use, of a girl who tried something and it worked.

I'm grateful that South African tweeps supported her.
I'm so happy that Elsa's success at this point doesn't depend on KOT's acceptance or love.
All this energy spent saying how she isn't funny should be spent supporting comedians you find funny.

South Africans found Elsa hilarious and they tweeted her into Hollywood.
Your funny comedians are failing to break out because you won't make them trend. You'd rather make someone trend by tweeting how she isn't funny.
Every "Elsa Majimbo is not funny" tweet is a missed opportunity to tell us who you find funny.

But the hate in your hearts won't let you see it.
The opposite of love is indifference. If she isn't funny and you don't care about her, then ignore her.

The fact that she lives in your heads rent-free says something about how you feel about success you didn't create.
Btw, if Elsa's success makes your heart feel somehow, please unfollow and block me.

Cos this account is an Elsa Majimbo stan account. I'm that auntie.
