Reading some of Emma Kenny’s tweets, reflecting on the child psychology briefly mentioned.
It is an area I’d studied a lot about, thought I’d sussed until I had the ultimate study- my own child who happened to be autistic & a complete curve ball to anything I was anticipating

There is something about living with someone with autism that changes your views or at least it did mine.
It reminds you that communication is at its most effective when it is heart led.

There is a lot of misunderstanding around autistics - that they don’t have empathy for example but from living with an autistic my experience tells me any outwardly negative behaviour is a retreat from a world too intense, too much.
It’s almost like too much empathy that they cannot face it because sometimes they feel too much - a need to turn away from the bright light.

Both idenitify as autistic themselves.
As with anything- go to the source - autistic people themselves.
