2021 is going to be something else. I know a lot of people say that every year. But, bruh, listen.

TWO THOUSAND TWENTY-ONE IS GOING TO BE SOMETHING SPECIAL. And not just for me. But for all of you.
The entirety of 2020 has been an exhaustive marathon of emotions and energy for all of us. Don’t let any entitled jerk tell you you’re wrong for not speaking glowingly of this year or “complaining.” This year has kicked the (crap) out of all us. Even our wins have had caveats.
This year, by every metric, has been the most successful year of my life as a professional. IN YEAR FIFTEEN. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re too old or missed your shot of you’re not on some asinine 30 Under 30 or 40 Under 40 list.
This year has also been brutal on all of us. We have suffered loss, pain, torment, and constant worry and fear. I have this weird, nagging feeling of “survivor’s guilt” for securing a bag in a time where so many people have struggled or lost everything. Because I was just there!
It’s different from the nagging imposter syndrome I’ve dealt with in the past. I KNOW that I belong. It’s just rough at times seeing others wade through those awful waters. Too many friends lost a loved one, friend, and/or a job to COVID. My dad was in deep trouble 6 weeks ago.
So as we reach the end of this trash fire of a year (and likely, Jan-March will have residual stink on it), it’s ok not to be ok with what you’ve been through. You don’t have to “be positive” for the sake of being positive. If you made it to the end of this year, you won.
Just know that 2021, will be better. And you will start getting those wins back. Just remember to #StayReady and remember that Hope ≠ Strategy.
