In his 20s, Tim's success mantra was -
• Join a company in a growing industry
• Observe and learn as much as one can from growth of the company
• Use the learning's to apply to your own company

He's had tremendous success picking up new 'hobbies'. For eg - picking up tango in Argentina casually and then getting his name on the Guinness Book of World Record for most consecutive tango spins.
His technique to pick-up new fields and master them -
• meticulously research and take notes on experts/systems
• practice and persistence while closely observing your practice sessions
• realize that you will hit an inflection point with a new skill. fight through it.
