Important lesson I learned from sexual assault/harassment awareness and prevention training:

Don’t place all your trust in one person because they strive to seem trustworthy, and don’t spend all your time trying to prove how trustworthy you are. This doesn’t mean “trust nobody”
If u want to make communities safe, u don’t place all ur trust in individuals. You place your trust in community, and you do what you can to contribute to building that trust. Don’t blindly fall for individuals, build connections with those on your level. Look out for each other
Learn how to be an active bystander and learn how to call shit out when you see it, and learn to not react defensively when someone you feel you trust is called out (this can be avoided by not blindly idolizing individuals).
These people y’all put up on a pillar in your online communities are not the ones who keep you or us safe.

We all keep us safe.
