The 22nd was the 4 years anniversary of my mother's death and something happened that made me think.

As some of you know my mother randomly collapsed at work 4 years ago, she had an aneurysm in the frontal lobe of her brain.
While she wasn't dead right away, she was unconscious and even surgery could not save her, after 16 very hard days she passed away.

There we were on the 22nd and the doorbell rang, someone we hadn't seen in a long time stood there.
A lady that used to employ my mother as help in her house, a higher class woman with money, family, and no doubt many friends.
She brought a gift for my grandma and we talked.

She told us how even now after all this time she misses my mother.
How she had never found a good friend and honest person like her again, how she still is shocked how things went, how we lost her.
How even her great life still had a hole from this ordinary woman's death.

It's easy to feel lost and hopeless in our time.
"You don't matter" is what most of us think, what they feel.
I am telling you all this to tell you that you do matter, every single day we are writing history.
Maybe not the history of the world, but of our life.

We influence others, we touch them and a piece of us sticks with them, no matter what.
Be kind, be honest and true.
Do your best, for in the end that is all that matters, maybe you won't be remembered forever, but a part of you will always keep existing in those you changed.

This is not about likes, or condolences or any of that crap.
I am telling you this to give you hope and show you how much power you have.
How every normal day and kind action will echo on, how what we do matters, and why we have to keep fighting no matter the odds.
