Sri Ram, the doctor and Baba:

In 1911, Mankar, a Mamlatdar from Kopergaon wanted to visit Shirdi with his doctor friend. The doctor, who was a staunch Hindu said that his deity is Shri Ram and hence, he would not bow down before a ‘Mohammedian’. 1/9
The Mamlatdar promised his doctor friend that nobody would force him to make a bow. But he would love to have his friend as a travel companion. Then,
according to their plan, they made their way to Shirdi and came to Dwarkamai to take Sai Baba's darshan. 2/9
But as soon as they reached, the doctor himself went ahead and made a bow and saluted Sai Baba. The Mamlatdar was wonderstruck. Later, Mamlatdar asked his doctor friend that what happened suddenly that he broke his vow of not bowing down before a Mohammedian? 3/9
At that time, the doctor replied that he saw his deity Shri Ram on the seat, in place of Sai Baba and he could not stop himself from prostrating before Baba. He was so dismayed that he said “Is this a dream? How can He be a Mohammedian? He is a great Yogasampanna Avatar!” 4/9
Next day, he made a vow in his mind and began fasting. He abstained himself from going to Masjid (Dwarkamai) until Baba blessed him. Three days passed and then on the fourth day, the doctor’s friend from Khandesh arrived. And both went to take Baba’s darshan in Dwarkamai. 5/9
Upon seeing the doctor, Baba asked him whether anyone had come to call him that he has come to meet Baba. Doctor was reminded of his vow of abstaining and was deeply moved. The same night, doctor experienced the Supreme bliss in his sleep. 6/9
Then, he left for his hometown and again experienced the same state for a fortnight. After this, his faith and devotion in Sai Baba increased.

Most people often argue about Baba’s origin & religion. We humans lack the maturity to realise that Baba was beyond all the limitations of religion, caste or creed. We are nobody to restrict the divinity in the prison of such things. He belonged to nothing, he was everything. 8/9
For me, he is my Pandharpur, Kashi and Himalaya. He is my God, Guru and a Friend.

Om Sainathay Namah!
