If you asked me what was something that I had a very genuine and deep hatred for, then bullying is something that would rank extra high in that regard. Which is what makes the bullying arc in 3-Gatsu so personal for me.
I can’t understate how much I detest bullying. From the very idea of it, it’s already something that I hate, but how it affects people is what gets me. This is something that ruins lives, and how 3-Gatsu captured that through the character Sakura Chiho was tragically accurate
It was hard to see how Hinata of all people became a target, and the feelings that welled up within her were greatly relatable. The feelings of rage, frustration, and just the want to tear apart the people who could have the gall to do this.
But instead of playing their game and giving in to those negative feelings, she stood her ground, took a stand and never wavered in confronting them the best way she could. That too me is the bravest thing someone could do, it takes a lot to stand up these kind of bullies.
And what makes it even more beautiful? The fact that there were people willing to stay by her side and protect in these times. This runs with the value of connection 3-Gatsu emphasizes, and how crucial human relationships are in times of trouble.
And for how much I detest her, I can respect the fact the fact that Takagi wasn’t written in such a one dimensional manner, and treated as human. Teenagers do kind of suck, and when you have a mother like she does, you begin to understand how this behavior developed
This arc had ended in such beautiful but slightly bittersweet note. Even if it’s left ambiguous if Takagi really did feel remorse for actions, and Sakura is gone. Sakura is shown to be on the path for recovery, and Hina has even made new friends in this event.
This entire arc showcases the heart and beauty to 3-Gatsu. From how it humanizes its characters to how real it gets, all of this was communicated in Hina's character. This was truly her time to shine, and her story was touching as it as endearing.
