I am not a Virgo* but can we stop saying everything associated with Virgo is only evil and bad? like the 18° and the 6th house? I know you don’t want to show up to do the hard work nor strip ego centrism from one’s role but this also has collective *and* personal benefits
Is it not counter intuitive with Mercury to only allow one binary to exist? We can see what ails may befall when these matters are not attended, but let’s also talk about the potential for adaptation, healing, and integration. Daily ritual can be profoundly healing!
Daily ritual care and attendance in a ceremonial way along side our daily health habits can be an way of integrating afflictions related to trauma and c-ptsd. Indigenous people have always known this but this is still difficult info for most of us who are more removed culturally.
Colonization depends on the suppression of Indigenous cultures, and often posits them as “primitive” and opposed to “science”, which is exalted. Instead of acknowledging these ways are often timeless technologies that work with and through linear and non linear time structures.
I think it is important to keep in mind that within the many transmissions of astrology also exist the many transmissions of societal paradigms we should be internally questioning, and just like frankly, human error, and the various cultural erasures of antiquity.
Astrology is not = colonialism or fascism in its historical emergence however we would do very well to bear in mind that it largely seems to have emerged within empires and developed along side notions of society, subsequently patriarchy, and has been manipulated in modern forms.
We should also all make more effort to recognize astrology as a SWANA region science and divinatory art form, later adapted by the Greek and Roman empires, who were retrospectively assimilated into a “European” identity, and which during the Industrial revolution became “white”
Our transmissions are also translated, imperfectly, by mostly men, in ways that often escape full meaning or else reflect some of these cultural ails. Virgo asks us to take this responsibility of translation upon ourselves. How might we see through this text?
As such yeah when you are not in a reciprocal relationship with spirit and the World around you, you’re gonna get checked, hard, and FAST. however when taking this initiative, there is also so much potential for adaptive impact that extends beyond ourselves.
There is also potential for erotic pleasure within these folds, in a way that is often repressed because this it harkens back to pleasure as it exists untethered to institutions such as marriage. Sex is its own form of ritual, we are in a psycho-sexual relation with the World.
Virgo reminds us that in every moment there is some choice, and this challenges the very notion of fate itself. It is in some ways where divination holds its power, by revealing the course of time, as well as pathways to alter its impact. The distilled potential within moments.
And while that choice may not alter the entire course of fate, it can have some direct effect on the way it moves, which can yield change. In every place there exists vilification, there is strength. As such, let’s stop using astrology to bind and perpetuate absolute truths.
Especially with a sign whose archetype is much more about integration of complex truths! Virgo reminds us the sanctity of our bodies and the spirit belying the mundane. This holds so much potential for us when engaged without fear, when lifted from its narrow confines.
*my chart is on the dl extremely Virgoan and I am co-ruled by Mercury and Sun in the 18°
