"Wonder Woman 1984 broke records and exceeded our expectations across all of our key viewing and subscriber metrics in its first 24 hours on the service...this will likely continue well beyond the weekend."
Love to announce I broke a record without saying what the record is.

(I have no doubt Wonder Woman 1984 saw a ton of views on HBO Max this weekend, I just want to know what that number actually is. We know it did $16.7M from 2,100 theaters in North America.
Wonder Woman 3 is exciting! In that I love comic book movies even if WW1984 wasn't great)

Tiny clue! "...with nearly half of the platform’s retail subscribers viewing the film on the day of its arrival."
Retail subscribers were 3.6 million at the end of September when HBO Max subs were at 8.6M activations ~ about 42%. December, AT&T confirmed activations were 12.6M

So if we assume roughly same percentage (and this is a big assumption as it could be more because of recent news), then ~42%~ of 12.6M is 5.3M. Nearly half of Max's retail subscribers watched on day one, about 2.65M?
(This doesn't include all other subs, so very very tiny pool)

So, if we assume that each view is one person, and take the 2.65M assumption x average $9.16 ticket price: $24.3M. On top of domestic $16.7M from theaters, that's ~$41M~ domestic opening.
But nonsense unless we have a clearer picture of all subs. Plus, one stream ≠ one ticket.

Wonder Woman did $103M domestically in its opening weekend. But that was without a pandemic, New York City and Los Angeles open, and no streaming alternative option.
Very excited to see the data...if we ever get it.
