I believe Chief Bigfoot (Spotted Elk) had a premonition of his impending death at Wounded Knee. Yet, as Lakota leader, he chose to die with his people, out there on the cold, desolate icy tundra. #woundedknee
“During the 1870s, Spotted Elk allied his tribe against the US Army, together with half-brother Sitting Bull (Lakota: Tȟatȟáŋka Íyotake), nephew Crazy Horse (Tȟašúŋke Witkó) and brother Touch the Clouds (Maȟpíya Ičáȟtagya).”
His half brother, Touch The Clouds.

As I said earlier, it’s incredibly hard to share some of these photos, knowing the history associated with them. Yet, I believe telling their stories keeps their ferocious spirit of defiance alive. It’s a fire that transcends generations.
