I've seen so many people not rate (even United fans) Alex Telles, so here is a thread that analyzes him more as a player.
Starting off with stats, in his time at Porto he registered 21 goals and 39 assists in the Portuguese League. He played 129 matches. Robertson has 4 goals and 33 assists in the Premier League out of 109 matches. Statistically, Telles is up there.
The best part of Telles's game is his crossing ability. He was on every set-piece at Porto. Since Manchester United have Bruno Fernandes taking set-pieces, this will limit Telles. It does make him a good option to take set-pieces that require a left-footed delivery.
His crossing accuracy is 25%, which is better than TAA's, Robertson's, and Reece James's. He is also a good shooter. 33% of his goals have come from outside of the box. Defensively, he is good aerially. He wins 61% of balls in the air, which is an extreme stat for a fullback.
You might wonder now why he doesn't start ahead of Luke Shaw more often. Luke Shaw is good defensively. Manchester United's playing style is often more on the counter-attack than possession-based like Liverpool. Fullbacks won't push high as often. Defending is very crucial.
Alex Telles at Porto was very similar to Trent at Liverpool. He is a good option in some games for us, but other times Shaw might fit the system better. No matter what, signing him for such a cheap fee was an absolute bargain.
End of thread, likes and RTs appreciated.
