Quick word about our fairly remarkable defence. Today marked the sixth different starting configuration for our back four in fifteen games. None of the six players to have started in defence had played in the Premier League prior to this season, nor had our goalkeeper. #lufc
We’ve only managed to field the same starting back four three games in a row, which we’ve now done twice. Six players have now appeared at centre-half in fifteen games. Luke Ayling has started in three different defensive positions (LCD, RCB, RB). Five clean sheets so far. #lufc
Perhaps the most significant statistic is that in the four matches we have been able to start our presumed first choice back four (Dallas, Cooper, Koch, Ayling), we have won three & drawn one, accruing 10 points from 12 available. No defeats. #lufc
Here are all the different starting back four combinations in case anyone is curious. Diego Llorente featured very early against Chelsea but did not start so was not included. Nor does in include the holding midfielder who sometimes slots in depending on the opponent. #lufc
