So in an answer to the below tweet of @ladywithflaws , I am listing the detailed reasons as per my understanding that why some people do not like or hate Virat Kohli.

[Thread with 10 points]

Disclaimer: I am a well-wisher of Virat and have written this with a neutral POV. https://twitter.com/ladywithflaws/status/1343184500885360642
1. Fist impression: He came of as a tattooed dude with Gel in hairs, who abuses. This didn't go well with many who regarded Cricket as gentleman's game. Another angle is that the same thing got Virat many admirers also. He came of as a different guy and it went both sides.
2. Rohit Sharma used to be regarded as the next big thing in 2008 when Virat was nothing. However Virat came and bundled heavy runs consistently and ended up becoming Vice Captain in 2012 during the Asia Cup. This didn't go well with the experts of Mumbai circle.
3. When he was almost 5 years into the game, he started getting seriously compared with Sachin Tendulkar due to his consistent performance and unmatched speed. To people who regarded Sachin as God, this was no less than blasphemy and thus Virat no less than Satan.
4. Post 2 years of Captaincy in test, team India came to rank 1 from rank 7. Enthusiastic fans immediately compared the captaincy with MSD. This didn't go well with a section of MSD fans. Though both Virat and MSD always shared great camaraderie and most fans are also supportive.
5. Virat became all format captain in 2017 due to him being the VC and also because of his excellent test captaincy. But by this time Rohit too started piling runs and won IPL. So the MI fans and Mumbai lobby got very unhappy with this. This frustration continues till now.
6. IPL Captaincy - Because of not winning an IPL trophy many do not rate him as a good captain in international too. Though both are different things but that creates a confirmation bias in the minds of those who don't follow the game too closely to understand the difference.
7. Ashwin's exclusion from white ball - Ashwin was dropped after CT 2017 and replaced with wrist spinning duo Kuldeep and Chahal. In overseas tests, sometimes Jadeja gets preferred. Many believe that Virat intentionally puts Ashwin down due to feeling of competition with him.
8. Anil Kumble - His coaching style didn't suit the team's way of thinking. Virat used his influence to not get Kumble's contract renewed and replaced him with Shastri. The latter's drunkard image shows him as a non-serious coach who replaced a disciplined person like Kumble.
9. Anushka Sharma - Due to a general hate against bollywood the right wing doesn't like Anushka and thus Virat too. Moreover, Anushka is blamed for making Anti Hindu content and Virat is blamed for lecturing selectively on only Holi/Diwali.
10. Him inviting Narendra Modi to his reception and then attending some programs with the PM makes the Left Wing uncomfortable with him. They take it as his silent endorsement of Modi for which he gets a so called free hand in BCCI by Jay Shah.
11. There are meme makers and some attention seekers who make posts against him just to get some engagement in the comments. Fans from Pro and Anti camps engage in war and they get some eye balls. They don't hate him but generate the hate for him for sake of publicity.
I would end with saying that Virat has got more supporters than haters but the percentage of haters is more as compared to other legends. Guy has achieved a lot of success and I believe with an ICC trophy and an IPL, he would gain back the respect from haters too. Cheers ❤️
