it makes me tear up every time i see keith haring's art out there in the world. you might recognize the yelling dog and dancing people from old animations on sesame street which were produced in his style

he started his career drawing in chalk on empty nyc subway ad spaces. he made like 5000 of these drawings, and got arrested multiple times for being a scamp and a vandal
keith haring was gay as the day is long. and not subtle or shy about it. it was a huge part of his art and public life.
and he was also an ardent AIDS activist.
keith haring died in 1990, age 32, from AIDS.

it means a lot to me to see his art continue in the world. it's unlikely that these chinese celebrities know the history of what they're wearing, but i hold a small, unrealistic hope that it's a tiny statement in our favor
sometimes i just want to shout "THIS TOO, WAS GAY. THIS TOO WAS TAKEN FROM US TOO SOON BY HIV/AIDS. THIS TOO IS OURS."
