Chattanooga's #GigCity, the ultimate example of internet being a public utility. Gig speeds, public access.

Every city in America is jealous of Chattanooga.

I still remember @AndyBerke (awesome Chatt Mayor) presenting it to us @leagueofcities.

It is possible! https://twitter.com/odessakelly/status/1343203537170395136
Of course, to go big with this, you need Federal Leadership (WHAT'S THAT?!), thank God coming soon in January of '21.

But could individual cities look at it....sure, why not?
Public utility internet, I should mention, was brought up when we did our extensive work on "One Touch Make Ready," legislation.

If you forgot, it was to allow @googlefiber, OR other competitors into market, we needed to allow an easier way to make utility poles ready.
Some discussion came up about @NESpower becoming a utility for internet too. That's in essence how it would work. (Hey, if Chattanooga can do it!?)

It's a broad discussion, at the time, it was a massive feat and lift just to pass OTMR.
Was the biggest legislation I ever passed (with many others people), and maybe it will be time to bring this whole topic up to surface again.

Either way, if there is ever a study group or panel, I'd love to take part! And in the meantime, Chattanooga is the envy of the Nation!
