Here's a theory.

Superhero media takes our personal drive/need for systemic change and portrays that enemy as a singular, physical entity that can be overcome.

Benefactors of these systems provide and label singular entities for us, temporarily releasing our frustrations.
And it's not just superhero media.

White liberals treat most political problems in this way, which may be a reflection of the Boomer era; being told stories of singular entities or events that were the problem and were handled, which is oversimplification, but easy to digest.
Maybe there's a reflection of rebellion against parenthood for white liberals. Politicans getting in the way of their privileges is reminiscent, so the return of those privileges or the ease of which they can be once again ignored, is the end of the fight. Dunno.
But for the vast majority of PoC in the US, we have been educated under a system that glorifies singular people as necessary platforms for lasting change, and then those persons are killed and their actions are rewritten in history.
This provides more frustration because without a hero, theres no person who embodies and takes action on our behalf.

So throw us an Obama and we feel somewhat at peace. Throw us a 45 and we see the root of all evil.

Their power and impact are large, but exaggerated.
I dont think that people arent on the cusp of revolution. I think that we are, every single day. Literally. We just dont have the tools, mentally. Physically, there are groups and means for miles. But we still dont truly understand how to dismantle the framework of belief, imo.
So the point of all of this is that, as a storyteller, I stand at full height and with my whole chest when I say that we need to create stories that teach people how to unravel the belief that someone else is going to save them, and show how systems of oppression are dismantled.
That means working on that within ourselves, otherwise we perpetuate the issue. Doing our best is enough, but that doing needs to be done.

Plenty of creators are doing this work in all sorts of genres and contexts, but it needs to be both massive and networked.
It needs to ride it's way from our niche communities to larger stages and on bigger screens, and in bold, direct words.

Shoutouts to those already on that path and those who have done so in the past to lay the present foundation. Us who are next need to utilize it consciously.
That's it.
