I wasn't going to do this, but I would like to explain, at least from my perspective, why Kamala Harris' tweet about checking on single friends meant so much to me. 1/
In 2019, I was in a relationship. I thought it might be "the one." We spent Christmas with my family, he asked my mom for her blessing to marry me, it was the perfect Christmas. 2/
On Christmas Eve, I found out I was pregnant. The perfect Christmas turned into the happiest moment of my entire life. I've truly never felt such bliss. 3/
By New Year's Day, I was in the emergency room bleeding and in pain. That began the 3 month torture of "resolving" an ectopic pregnancy. Blood work three times a week, a D&C, and when that didn't work, several shots of chemotherapy. 4/
The relationship didn't stand up to those issues, and at the beginning of quarantine, he left me. (I was still technically pregnant.) The pregnancy finally resolved, while I was in quarantine ALONE. 5/
So needless to say, this Christmas was TORTURE for me. The worst part? Only my mom remembered to ask how I was handling it. No one else. 6/
When Kamala Harris tweeted "check on your single friends who may be spending the holidays alone for the first time, I FELT THAT. I felt seen. Someone remembered to check on me. No, Kamala Harris isn't my personal friend, but the sentiment from her was like a balm to my soul. 7/
Maybe, instead of criticizing, people could take the time to see what that tweet meant to so many people. We have been through an awful year. There is nothing wrong with our leaders showing empathy. In fact, it's very necessary - now more than ever. 8/
Think about that

THE END/
Thank you to everyone for the kind words, I can't tell you how much I appreciate and how much it comforts me! 💛💛😘
