Rajma pods with different colours of Rajma. It’s only after our harvest this year for http://www.tonsvalley.shop  that I realised that all these beautiful colours grow together in one Rajma patch, and then are sorted after harvest into homogenous piles.
That’s the Rajma sorting in progress at our processing centre up in the Tons Valley. That’s Patuli, Patil’s daughter Aastha & Patuli’s mother Chandudi sorting the Rajma. Not just sorting, most of our Rajma is also procured from women subsistence farmers who sell us their surplus.
These are the beautiful Rajma colours we get as we sort the Rajma. Top right is the mother pile of mixed beans.
Sometimes we get a whole bunch of very pretty beans in purples and blueberry! Or spotted ones that we call the pixel beans. These get picked up super fast. My favourite thing to do with them is make bean salads. 🤍
