This idea of developing physical literacy and general athleticism in youth instead of the highly competitive and specialized environment of youth sports that leads to chasing the college scholarship also relates to the following 3 tweets:
Indeed, these points were further highlighted in 2 tweets related to ACL injury prevention programs – but it also extends to general health, fitness and athletic development.
However, with all this focus on athletic development (strength, speed, power, etc.), it is vital that we consider the brain and cognitive development, the importance of sport-skill (technical and tactical) development and recovery (sleep, nutrition and mental relaxation).
