2020 started with the biggest career setback. Went bankrupt owing to someone else’s mistakes, sold assets to pay for the dues and chose to take a break. (I am in early 20s)
As it ends, there are 7 things I did this year in an attempt to find a better version of myself. See if you’d want to have some takeaways from my experiences
1. The art of documenting
This was an inflexion point and to not to waste a crisis, I decided to organise myself.
How? Document!
Things you have done today
Things you want to do tomorrow
Write today, take lessons and improvise for tomorrow.

a small example: I had 25 books I had never read. I sat down to make an excel sheet in early March and created an optimised a plan
9 months from then, I have read 32 books, took my lessons and out of fun, created a passive income source along with some great habits.

Left me with quintessential clarity of thought and speech!
2. Explore the side: side hustle
Ever since college, I had a knack to upgrade the skill and make money out of it. This year was the next step where I explored digital world
Created new content (audio/video/blogs) thus amplified via SEO. Crazy returns!

3. Move the farthest and when you’re tired, move a little more.
Basically, exercise. Thanks to lockdown, my dream of a ‘mini gym’ at home is now a reality.
Tip. If nothing else, adopt a 10k steps a day target covering some 6-8 kms.

4. Weigh what you eat!
21 months ago, I gave up on artificial sugar. 2020 was the next step in this path where pragmatic approach to what I eat saw a new face.

Going calorie deficit by weighing what I eat, helped me lose some 10kg. That ‘new’ feeling standing in the mirror can see the confidence brimming!
5. Quit social media
I deleted social media and removed messenger(s) last year except Instagram.
This year, I removed IG too!
The amount of time I now possess allows me to invest better, live healthier, and eat cleaner.

6. Cook for yourself!
I never learnt cooking in over 2 decades of my existence. Around Diwali, I chose to learn to cook for myself. 10/10 will recommend, it’s therapeutic!

7. Play today, party tomorrow
As an undergrad, the reverse was the idea. But maybe that comes with age and a lot of time on hand. I appreciate myself on opting to prioritise the game of building habits, accomplishing goals and reaching closer to my aim.

One quote that helps me stick to schedule is:
“Discipline is hard but the regret is harder!”
Yes, the former mostly comes after experiencing the latter at least once. In my case, it has been twice. Or maybe thrice. I have lost the count or have I?

Lastly, I wanted to learn maps better. Thanks to pandemic, I can now mark every single country on the world map.
