🚀 CeeDee Lamb - Astronomical upside 🚀

(Thread)

CeeDee Lamb was a lot of people’s rookie WR1 coming into the NFL draft and the Dallas Cowboys couldn’t pass on him when he fell into their lap with the 17th pick (WR3)

He arrived with a bang, but what’s Lamb’s future outlook?...
• College Stats •

After 3 years with OU, Lambs final stats where as follows:

173/3292/32
9/20/1

As a true freshman, Lamb wasted no time in a making an immediate impact. He finished the season with:

46 Rec
807 Yds (school freshman record)
7 TDs (tied school freshman record)
As a sophomore, Lamb led Oklahoma in TDs and helped guide them to the playoffs with a 12-2 record

65 Rec
1158 Yds
11 TDs

In his final year as a Junior, Lamb was named a first-team All-American and a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award for best college football receiver...
His Junior stats where as follows:

62 Rec
1327 Yds
14 TDs

Lamb then had an impressive combine performance where he really shone during the WR drills to solidify his spot as one of the brightest WR prospects from this 2020 WR class.
• Career So Far •

With 2 games remaining in his Rookie season, here are CeeDee Lamb’s stats:

66/827/4
8/60

Fantasy Ranking: WR26

Lamb made a hot start to the season despite many expecting him to struggle for targets alongside fellow WR Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup

...
@ LAR - 6 Tar, 5 Rec, 59 Yds
Vs ATL - 9 Tar, 6 Rec, 106 Yds
@ SEA - 7 Tar, 5 Rec, 65 Yds
Vs CLE - 7 Tar, 5 Rec, 79 Yds, 2 TDs
Vs NYG - 11 Tar, 8 Rec, 125 Yds

However, it was against the NYG that QB Dak Prescott suffered a season ending injury, and with it Lambs performances...
Began to drop off.

His reception and yardage totals all took a dip following the Prescott injury and with it, so did Lambs upside

Stats average with Prescott (4 full games) Vs without (9 full games):

Tar: 7.25
Yards per Catch: 14.58
TDs: 0.5

Vs

Tar: 6.55
YPC: 10.45
TDs: 0.22
Other notable stats:

• Air Yards Per Game: 71.4
• % Team Air Yards: 23.8
• Avg Depth of Target: 9.7
• % Team Targets: 18.9
• Avg Yards After Catch: 4.1

Snap alignment:
Outside Right - 4.3%
Outside Left - 4.9%
Slot Right - 47.7%
Slot Left - 38.4%

Outside 9.2% Vs 86.1% Slot
• Future Outlook •

To finish of his Rookie season, Lamb plays (SOS and fantasy points allowed to the position per game):

Vs PHI - 20th (31.4)
@ NYG - 26th (28.8)

But his fantasy owners will now be looking forward more to 2021 for CeeDee Lamb...
QB situation:

Many expect Dak Prescott to return as the Cowboys QB in 2021, however his contract has yet to be renewed and there is the possibility Dak is the starting QB of another franchise next season. This is a slight concern as a CeeDee Lamb owner.

Lamb’s situation:
...
Amari Cooper has a contract until 2025, yet Gallup’s contract expires in 2022 so there is a chance he is either traded or moves on at the end of next season. However, it’s fair to say Lamb has already overtaken Gallup as the WR2 with the Cowboys.
• Conclusion •

Lambs current value (via DLF) is an early 2021 1st or WRs such as Michael Thomas/Chris Godwin etc.

As much as I’m a huge fan of Lamb’s talent, I feel the hype is a little too high given the uncertainty at QB. We expect Dak Prescott to return but I feel...
Lamb’s value is based on the ideal situation.

Lamb should be a mid/high-end WR2 next season, especially if Dak re-signs, but his value is more that of a mid WR1 right now.

The upside is huge with Lamb, but for me he is a risky buy until we see his QB situation in 2021.
