So when I talk about needing to change things, regarding education for the remainder of this academic year, and needing a LONG TERM plan not a quick fix, the UFT and covid-sceptics tell me certain things...
Hereâs some;
Hereâs some;
1- âwe canât reduce class sizes because we canât magic more teachersâ
Ah, but you could explore allowing temp remote learning for those who are able (without the threat of fines) and combine rota systems and blended learning for all.

2- âwe donât have room for SD in classrooms we canât make classrooms magically biggerâ
Ah, but if you allowed all #1 options thereâd be less pupils in each class at one time (the same as restaurants and shops have had to do)

3- âcanât improve ventilation some classrooms donât have windows that openâ
Those classrooms shouldnât be in use the @educationgovuk guidance to HE states
why isnât that the same guidance for schools?

4- âchildren will spread the virus more if they wear masks in classrooms â
Oh come on! The argument that pupils touching a mask contaminated with viral aerosols that they would have inhaled if not wearing a mask is obviously ridiculous! Promote mask and hand hygiene procedures.

5- âasking a child to wear a mask is child abuseâ
As a survivor of actual child abuse I think I find this one the most offensive. It is not abuse!
I wonât even detail how wrong this argument is.

6- âchanging education provision causes mental health issues for childrenâ
Adapting to change is something most children cope with better than adults. New routines, new processes can be introduced & accepted
The rest of society has had to make changes children are aware of this.

7- âblended learning means disadvantaged miss outâ
Not if well managed and monitored. Not if all options for remote education provisions are used. Agree, there are discrepancies regarding tech and internet ownership...so do something about it!

Feel free to add more of the âblockagesâ that some people cite as reasons why our children, school staff and their families not to be afforded the SAME safety measures as are required in all other indoor settings where households mix.
I donât have the answers to everything but I do know it isnât LEGAL to know that a safety measure SHOULD be in place but refuse to implement it because it will disrupt normal practice @educationgovuk organisational abuse case? #SafeEdForAll
