I'm annoyingly fascinated by the internal world of people like JHB. Bear with! Here's the thing, people generally do things that bring them pleasure. Most of us get a pleasure hit from tweeting something that makes people smile, laugh, think etc. Most of us find it》
》distressing when people tweet back at us in anger, or spite. So what is going on in the head of someone who consistently tweets inflammatory things? OK, re *that* recent tweet of hers, maybe some people will actually agree with her. But not as many as will be made angry》
》can it really be that ANY attention is better than none? And of course, being generally kind and thoughtful in a bland sort of way just isn't going to get you a slot on Question Time is it! But there is still a person behind the ambition. Does the anger those tweets cause》
》the hostility, the general outrage, does that in itself bring pleasure to the person? I know that the standard advice is to block & ignore such people, but one goes and another pops up. I want to understand how it is that people enjoy upsetting others》
》they must know they are causing distress. Most people who tweet provocatively aren't stupid. What on earth do they actually enjoy about the whole process...?
