Still unconfirmed but looking increasingly likely the Nashville bomber was a 5G conspiracy theorist. https://twitter.com/jfinleyreports/status/1343038998848090112?s=21
It has long been on the cards that this subculture would turn to terrorism and it is time people awakened the risk. A thread:
Here’s one particularly horrible example in Russia Today: https://twitter.com/themattdimitri/status/1342951503296831488?s=21
For my previous thread on Harry Vox, a virulent antisemite, see here: https://twitter.com/bobfrombrockley/status/1305451543576170497?s=21
5G conspiracy theories often come entangled with other conspiracy theories, not least antisemitism
The David Icke-inspired Richie Allen Show broadcasting out of Salford, which claims to be Europe’s most listened to radio show, is another major platformer of 5G conspiracy theories. As well as hosting Vox, Allen platformed Mark Steele way back in 2016
The website GlobalResearch, promoted by some on the alt-left and which the gullible often think is a serious site because of its superficial gloss, is another big platform for these ideas https://twitter.com/leupp/status/1305949375282073601?s=21
Fear, uncertainty and misinformation around covert have been huge accelerators of 5G conspiracy, which in turn acts as a gateway to more hardcore conspiracism. The BBC’s @mariannaspring has done a great job in 2020 showing how this happens https://twitter.com/mariannaspring/status/1342774627026796544?s=21
The pandemic gave a spotlight to many who claimed some dubious medical expertise to peddle their snake oil https://twitter.com/bobfrombrockley/status/1251168069830860807?s=21
The early months of the pandemic already saw many small attacks on 5G facilities https://twitter.com/bobfrombrockley/status/1251172651034447872?s=21
Mark Steele, who has previous convictions for attacking 5G infrastructure, has gained a huge platform for his crankery as a result of the pandemic, speaking at many of the major antilockdown rallies https://twitter.com/bobfrombrockley/status/1307605201247973376?s=21
Steele, like many others in the 5G/anti-lockdown scene, has links with the far right, a potent combination https://twitter.com/bobfrombrockley/status/1307605204226002944?s=21
When people turn to these ideas, sooner or later they get to David Icke, another of the speakers antilockdown rallies. Icke packages together all of these conspiracy theories and links them to “Rothschild Zionists” https://twitter.com/bobfrombrockley/status/1251168073949814787?s=21
Take this stuff seriously folks! (even if the Nashville attack turns out not to be connected to this.)
