as astrology bcomes more and more mainstreamed, astrologers need to learn how to make sure the narrative of astrology doesn't feed into existing axes of oppression. astrologers will have a dual role as not just diviners, but as messengers against oppressive power structures.

don't think astrology is immune from falling into the pitfalls of racism, homophobia, sexism, etc - just looking at the discourses of astrotwitter is enough to see that astrologers are humans who very easily subscribe to oppressive power structures with/out thought.

so how do we create an abolitionist, anti-racist, anti-fascist astrology? representation of astrologers of colour, queer astrologers, etc is a fantastic place to start - but how do we maintain astrology as not an oppressive practice but instead one of liberation?

and i think this shows the biggest issue w/ astrology which is that inherently it's a tool that can be utilised and weaponised depending on the hand that's wielding it. reagan had an astrologer, yknow.

anyway i don't have an answer to this, but i hope so deeply that our current new wave of astrologers who care deeply and advocate for the lives of the oppressed are able to shape an astrology against oppression. i want/need us to create a framework for liberatory astrology.

using astrology as a tool to support our struggle, as a way of helping heal the traumas of the oppressed. electing protests. using the planetary energies to support our movements. i cannot wait for the first liberatory astrological manifestos to be written and disseminated.

i've had the pleasure of seeing liberatory astrologies in practice through events and webinars; i cannot wait for some people somewhere to look at astrology and look at liberation and define an anti-oppressive path forward. i'm excited for this astrology that i know is coming.
