The Verdict; Lampard in or out? (Thread) ✍🏼
After yesterday’s loss to Arsenal, the Chelsea fanbase has been equally split between wanting the English manager to stay at the helm or leave. In fact, @ConnCFC’s poll portrays exactly that. So is this reactionary or just a bump im Lampard’s plans? https://twitter.com/conncfc/status/1342915375151919105
Wanting a manager out after a few bad games is something no Chelsea fan is unfamiliar of. Its happened to many managers before and its obvious Lampard is to be treated to the same hashness, but should he?
The first question i ask is, what is our expectation this season? Sure we’ve spent money, but that money was invested, it was not spent on readymade players. The likes of Werner, Havertz and Chilwell are arguably not at their peak.
Same goes for many squad players. Mount, Abraham, Reece James, Gilmour, Pulisic, Odoi, the list goes on. Many of these players are still developing and becoming better players, under a a manager who arguably has given them the chance to do exactly that.
Lampard is the same manager that tactically outclassed Mourinho in his own backyard. Lampard has shown that he could take a bunch of youngsters and still achieve top 4 when other teams couldn’t. So again, what is our expectation this season? Win the league or top 4?
If you said win the league, id call you reactionary. Football has changed. Teams like Liverpool and City were allowed time to build their squads to become the teams they are now. Chelsea, still need that time. Lampard has been here for under two years.
Whereas Klopp won the league in his 4th year in charge. In conclusion, i do believe that this has been extremely reactionary from many fans. They must realize that good things take time and patience, and Lampard has proven before that he is the man to build the empire.
