1/ Summer 2018, my wife Janet had 2 debilitating strokes, later learned to be caused by advanced ovarian cancer. When released from rehab they wanted to put her in a power wheelchair, her prognosis so poor. But they did not know her & her will to recover. https://twitter.com/MSkotnicki/status/1030494458385780736
2/ First came treatment for the cancer -- chemotherapy and surgery. And almost exactly two years ago she was eager for outpatient physical therapy just 2 weeks after surgery. She finished chemo in spring 2019, still doing PT twice a week. https://twitter.com/MSkotnicki/status/1030494458385780736
And she's kept at it, taking advantage of every opportunity to strengthen, and improve balance and coordination the strokes deprived her of. https://twitter.com/MSkotnicki/status/1100029184812990465
One tool has been our home treadmill with a safety harness system I rigged up.
5/ When Janet was released from rehab in August 2018 she was only able to walk at the slowest speed -0.5 mph- for 3 minutes and was exhausted, slept for hours.
6/ Now she is still using a standard wheelchair most of the time, and transitioning to a rolling walker, but on Xmas day she walked on the treadmill at 2.0 mph for 20 minutes, reaching a goal set more than 2 years ago.

Top that for a Xmas present. I am so proud of her.
