Never mind the fact that over 60s make up 23% of our population. Never mind the fact not “healthy” in the figures she’s using for her latest bile includes those with rheumatological conditions, asthma, mental health conditions, learning disabilities; conditions not normally...
...or necessarily associated with shortened life (and never mind the 31,000+ with ‘other’ pre-existing conditions that could be anything). It’s just plain old simple nasty. It’s mean and it’s heartless. Worse still, attitudes like hers are far too common these days, sadly.
Think how many people would have died if we’d just carried on without taking the measures we have. 100,000? 200,000? People like her think that’s ok, so long as they don’t have to wear a mask in Waitrose, so long as they can go to the pub. That’s what she’s saying. Incredible.
Chances are that one day she’ll be old or, if she hasn’t already, have one of these conditions, and she’ll encounter attitudes just like hers. An attitude that essentially says one life is worth more than another.
