[RANT THREAD] I love Dil To Pagal Hai, but there's this one particular scene from it that has really irked me on recent rewatches. In this scene, Nisha is shopping for Valentine's Day supplies and gifts until her friend, Anjali, meets her there.
When Nisha explains to her that she's shopping for Valentine's Day, Anjali has the audacity to ask her what Valentine's Day is.
"Valentine's Day? Yeh Valentine's Day hota kya hai?"
Really? An adult who's just hearing about Valentine's Day at this very moment of her life?
"Valentine's Day? Yeh Valentine's Day hota kya hai?"
Really? An adult who's just hearing about Valentine's Day at this very moment of her life?
And it's not just that she didn't know about it before. It's that she literally walked into a store full of Valentine's Day decorations everywhere while a woman's voice is repeatedly saying the words "Valentine's Day" on the speaker and the words "Valentine's Day" are everywhere.
And yet she didn't have the faintest idea or thought to question what it is until Nisha mentioned it in their conversation.
Perhaps it was because Valentine's Day wasn't a big thing in India in the '90s, so Mr. Yash Chopra felt that they needed explaining in layman's terms before jumping into its premise. However, it was just terribly written and executed here.
IN CONCLUSION: Anjali is the most terribly written character in the YRF Universe and I really hope that she doesn't have a cameo in #Pathan.
