Seeing a lot of "going to the mall to get stuff on sale today is bad, and you should feel bad for doing it".

Can we reframe this a bit?
Yes, it is undeniably bad that the malls are full of people today.

People are going to the malls because the malls are open.

The malls are open because the government says it's okay (even though it's not).
I'm also seeing a lot of "hope the pointless junk was worth the risk" (a direct quote).

But many people save up for Boxing Day, and use the sales to purchase things like necessary appliances that actually work. They're not buying useless junk.
"Just buy stuff online, then." Well, some people don't qualify for credit cards.
Our government has created an impossible situation, and now they're happy to just sit back and watch while we tear each other apart over it.

Yes, retail workers deserve safety, protection, and a break

Yes, people need to be able to afford things like stoves and washing machines
No, the malls shouldn't be crowded with people.

It's really frustrating to see people going to the mall, because it puts them and others in danger.

Some people are going because they need to, and some people are going because they want to.
But again, people are going to the malls because the malls are open.

The malls are open because the government says it's okay.

So who's ultimately responsible, here?
