// nsfw , dnf , irl shipping

here’s my take on the dnf punishment art as an mlm. i’m not mad or uncomfortable with the art itself personally (some people are though, and that’s their RIGHT) but i am disgusted with how the fandom is acting. it’s just as bad as 2012 “oh my gayby!”
the art, at the end of the day, in my eyes, is really just a guy w hickeys being depicted in an mlm relationship, and there’s nothing wrong w that. once again, the art does make some ppl uncomfortable and that’s okay. that’s fine, but there’s nothing inherently wrong w an mlm—
ship being drawn in an nsfw situation. the problem arises when this starts getting fetishized the way the fandom is. they’re comparing it to killing stalking which is FUCKED up. if you think killing stalking was hot or whatever the fuck, hard block me right the fuck now
the way the fandom is going “oh this is so hot ugh they’re so hot 🥵🥵🥵” and worships a gay ship between two straight guys just doesn’t sit right. now, there’s nothin wrong w shippin dnf because they’re both perfectly fine w it, but when you start to fetishize it there’s issues
now, for those of y’all who weren’t super present in fandoms where fetishization was prevalent, i’ll explain what would count as fetishization so you can educate yourself and help your mlm/nblm friends feel more comfortable. if you find yourself doing these things, im not mad—
but fix that. improve yourself. it’s okay to admit you made mistakes, just be better for the sake of people you care about
1. phrases like “it’s better when it’s gay” or “i like gay ships more than straight ships” if youre not lgbt. while you may just happen to like more gay ships than straight ones, when you start to say things like that, it’s like you’re acting like there’s a difference between
gay and straight people, and that’s fetishistic. there isn’t a difference outside of the genders of the people. when you act like there’s a difference, you’re acting like gay love is something different and strange. that’s uncomfortable
2. the big strong man and useless twink dynamic. sometimes that dynamic is just how the ship pans out and thats alright, but usually it comes from a place of heteronormativity and feeling that every ship must have a feminine one and a masculine one to be valid
3. the whole craze of labeling people and things as “tops” and “bottoms” if you’re not making smth nsfw. even so, basing these decisions off of things like height and build is fucking infuriating and makes me want to actually cry. the idea that short mlm must be bottoms is so
infantilizing and fetishistic. call me sensitive all you want, but it fucking hurts to have people assume your fucking POSITION IN BED based on how tall you are and how you’re built. it’s so invasive and gross
i might add more later, but this is the main things that come off as fetishistic. when mlm and nblm say things about their sexuality, you fucking listen. you don’t call them sensitive, you don’t ignore them, you listen, and you make things more comfortable for them
dnf is fine, and nsfw dnf content is fine, but there’s a fine line between nsfw dnf content and fetishizing mlm relationships
tl;dr : (imo) the art is fine, but the reaction of the fandom and the fandom’s general attitude towards gay ships and gay people is gross
