Came across a thread from a locked account (so won’t QT), which makes very good arguments about why people are content with this stunted growth.

Would add a few things, which weren’t explicitly made in that thread.

One is a rehash of something I’ve said many times. The focus on getting a bigger size of the pie instead of increasing the size of the pie.

India isn’t a liberal society as far as that goes, not that it’s liberal in other ways.

2/
Liberalism would imply focus on your own growth and opportunities. In India, all such growth is put in perspective of the relative.

Secondly, failure to recognize what drives growth. It’s prosperity of the entire society.

3/
Whereas a large part of India works towards actively blocking opportunities.

And India has been moving in opposite direction to achieve those means. Everything is becoming more centralized.

Take the ongoing farmer issue.

4/
The society is concerned about why and how Punjab and Haryana farmers earn so much, rather than why don’t all farmers. And instead of arguing for a devolution of laws regarding agriculture our solution is centralization.
