This is a poor attempt at an apology, that unfortunately places blame on Dr. Moore for being an educated black physician seeking care in her time of need.
In the statement, IU Health admits that their nurses were intimidated by Dr. Moore’s knowledge, and implies that her care suffered as a result of it. Was it this intimidation that caused the nurses to delay treatment of Dr. Moore’s pain?
Was it this intimidation that causes the nurses to forego the standard of care that includes frequent check ins for patients? In Dr. Moore’s video, she mentions a nurse that failed to come to her room for many hours, further delaying her from getting her medications.
In the statement, IU Health admits that the care team didn’t have the time to care for Dr. Moore properly due to the pandemic. Is this why Dr. Moore was discharged prematurely? Only to require readmission to another hospital, less than 12 hours from discharge from IU Health...
Not only was Dr. Moore admitted less than 12 hours from discharge, she was admitted with what sounds like frank respiratory failure! Was it a lack of time that caused IU Health’s medical team to dismiss her symptoms prior to discharging her?
Is this why Dr. Moore’s symptoms and complaints were dismissed? Overworked hospital staff in the midst of a pandemic who cannot fully listen to their patients?
There’s so much to unpack from this statement! I could go on and on, but I’ll end with this question: Why was it released on Christmas Eve? Was that to limit the number of people who actually read it?
Please share widely! Dr. Susan Moore deserves justice so she can Rest In Peace.
