Lets start around 2016-17 cube was in bad shape, in a lot of debt. Gidle members were trainees at the time, and cube was struggling to find a song for them, they kept pushing their debut cause they didn’t have a song nor funds to make it happen.
Enters Jeon Soyeon, her presence in the group helped shape the future of Gidle as she challenged cube every step of the way from changing their name, creating the logo, producing and writing.
She preserved the members individually, and did not allow cube to manipulate their vocals to match every other gg. She found a vocal coach to help the girls strengthen their unique styles. Which is one thing that makes Gidle stand out.
She knows the members voices well. She takes inspiration from the members to create gidles discography to make it unique to them, instead of blending in with everybody else in the industry.
She stepped in, added meaning to the groups name that connected all six girls and created the logo. It wasn’t easily done, she created PPTs to showcase her ideas to the company executives, as you can see in the first SS.
Instead of keeping idle as “lazy” or “boring” she gave it this new meaning. Every little detail she puts in helps them stand out.

Latata wasn’t loved immediately, only her members supported her at the time. Cube executives didn’t like the song. It was selected to be the title track through a blind vote

Predebut they had a busking video as a group, no reality, no cfs. Yes soyeon was in produce 101 and unpretty rap star but that popularity didn’t even help her 2 solo songs (she made herself).
They literally had no budget for latata, it was shot in an empty warehouse. The girls posed in front of trash cans and trash bags for their concept pics. Their debut was literally DIY
debuted only on bugs,sold 260 copies fd & 2k fw. It was their performances that displayed their stage presence &charisma that got knetz interested. The song took off spent 22 weeks on melon, sold over 200k in the USA. Chosen as top debut by knetz, took home 10 rookie awards
Gidle started working on KDA project prior to debut. Success of kda wasn’t guaranteed past its target audience. Riot came to them because of their talents
Cube didn’t get them the KDA gig, Miyeon and Soyeon were scouted, Riot approached cube and pitched the project to them and asked for Soyeon & Miyeon.
They continued with that momentum with hann which soyeon had to fight for to get chosen. Due to latata becoming a hit song, they got many opportunities & were able to get invited to promote in many places. Sponsorships who helped with the budget for their following cb
For I_made Soyeon wrote almost every song with the exception of blow your mind which was written by Minnie, Soyeon only wrote her rap on that song.

She also created all the other songs she took part in, (put it straight, what’s your name, give me your) from lyrics to melody to producing & arranging.

Uh oh, barely had budget it was filmed in the street. Later that year they got INVITED by Mnet 2participate on queendom along side known groups. Cube didn’t do sh!t for them, Mnet asked. That show changed everything for them & ppl got to see how talented & unique they each are
Lion” which was nominated at the KMA’s for best pop song (Grammys, but more prestigious) she wrote all the lyrics, created the melody, arranged it, sung the guide for the members.
Cube puts a lot of pressure on Soyeon, she couldn’t even go on vacation with her members
Because of the members hard work they stood out on queendom and solidified themselves as a self produce group, they are branded as that, that is how they are marketed.
Their hard work got them to get noticed. Cause some other queendom contestants didn’t get much after the show ended. Being on queendom was not guaranteed success, they worked for it and showed their individuality and strengths like self producing which got them noticed
There’s a lot of pressure that comes with the title self made
She works hard, already got 31 songs copyrighted at such a young age.
She doesn’t even go out, she just stays in her hotel room to work on songs. I’m not gonna let you guys discredit all the hard work the girls put in to make a name for themselves

Not just soyeon, members Yuqi (I’m the trend with Minnie) and Minnie( bym, tung tung, for you) also take part of in composing. The girls are very self sufficient, they don’t rely on cube, b/c if they did they would’ve never debuted.
Gidle success has revived cube literally. The money that Gidle brings rightfully gets invested back into them as the girls worked hard for it and deserve the budget they got for oh my god. That money also helps to support cubes other groups.

All of that achieved cause of their hard work. Even with all of this cube still don’t give them the treatment they deserve. Still not giving them the best promotion, cutting corners with their album packaging, outfits, not hiring the best to work with them, etc.

The girls worked hard to get noticed, cube didn’t help them get notice. They are getting cube in good standing again. They still have a long way to go, as they face many challenges. Yes Gidle is self made, no “cube privilege” did not help them get to where they are.
