Random but there are a couple of episodes in the first two seasons of Voltron that show Shiro in his goofiest, less serious self and I appreciate them a lot. (thread)
One is s1ep12, 'Collection and Extraction', where him and Allura get into a galra ship and we see two comanders, two natural leaders be around each other on a mission. This is our first time, since the pilot with Keith, that we see him interact with an equal on equal grounds.
Differently so that with Keith in fact, because where he meets him in the shared friendship and hinted bond from before of the begginig of the pilot, here's with another captain. Another leader.
Him and Allura have wasted friendship potential that all s1 hints at but never ends up developing in depth.
In this episode, we see him be what we have seen him be so far, but he's not around or has to take care of anyone like with the younger paladins.

Here he can be himself in another way. it's a great dynamic. One of camaraderie and strong leadership who never gets too serious, but the contrary.
They work together super well, and the only one we're gonna get to see him work this well beside Allura is w Keith.
it's a good ep.

Then there's s2ep10, 'Escape from Beta Traz'. This is the Slav episode.
I think it's pretty obvious to me why I like it so much.
Usually composed Shiro, who only lets his guard down with some and is himself with fewer,

*cough cough keith again cough*
(especially in season two, where he has almost abandoned all his relaxed tone for the concentration of a war leader)
loses his "patience yields focus" motto and we get to see him... be himself even more. The ptsd and trauma have no room, bc instead we are met with Done With Your Shit Shiro that shows his training and disipline, as well as being human.
Shiro's a character that the creators had never planned for it to stay (despite giving him so much protagonism... idk, guys). He was a character that was going to get killed in season two, and his bond was replaced by a cosmic dog in s7 and The Other One We Dont Talk About.
Still, and despite the creators sometimes thoughts of him being a flat character, we can gather that he's a sacrificed man who's diciplned, focused, strong willed and a great leader bc he's compassionate and giving.
But by now, we know he can have a temper if tested too much, dark humor as fuck and goofy side that we get to see in mannerisms, some coments and the 'blam blam blam' part that ended and remade my heart into a Shiro one.
In season 1, we've seen parts of Shiro's "lighter" side that I wish we got to watch more of.
He isn't the cardboard cutout leader of Voltron.
In a show w these few episodes and seasons, I shouldn't be sad about no having him more developed,

especially when people creating him weren't too fond of having to keep him. The developent in his relationship with Allura, or Pidge or even Lance, Hunk and Coran got sidelined by his with Keith, which I'm no entierly mad about (of course).
He sees Keith as an equal since the pilot, and especially in s2, where he recognizes him as a future leader.
Because he has an older, more deep bond with Keith, he's able to show another part of himself: his emotions and weakneses.
He's softer for(, because of) and with Keith.

And though I love it, sheith's relationship in canon is often twinged with some type of angst or tragedy, and I wish we had the opportunity of them simply joking around w/o immediate death looming.
But hey, I guess having them together in the sillier episodes were too hard for some, idk.
