In large part because no one but the big corporations benefit from the fetishization of youth. Like, not even folx who are under 25. Twitter is swamped with people terrified of getting older for that reason.

Also, the glorification of youth is kinda how we end up with teenagers being exploited by adults who really should know better. And like, could we just... not?
