A few more in-depth thoughts about #WW84
. I’m not surprised it’s polarizing. This sequel is much different than the first. In a bloated genre, it does take a bolder step in themes. It’s really more Diana’s journey than Wonder Woman’s. “You can’t take a short cut and still win”

Gal is significantly better this time around. Both confident and vulnerable, it’s a privilege and a sacrifice to serve the world as a hero. Being super is a lonely existence and her life is “not all that it seems”.
Agreed that #WW84
is too long and the pacing is off in parts, but at least all the characters have time to develop and evolve (quite literally). Plus, Diana and Steve get that much deserved second date!

Honestly, my two biggest concerns going into #WW84
was how they would explain Steve Trevor’s return and if Cheetah would look ridiculous. Surprisingly, I was totally fine with both.

It was nice not to have villains who are not evil just to be evil- like we’ve seen a million times. Minerva and Lord are motivated because of their pain just like our main hero.
With a message of being content with who you are, the excess and hubris of the 80s was the perfect setting for #WW84
. Plus, the threat of nuclear war was a constant threat in that era and I wish they explored that a little more.

I don’t think #WW84
is better than the first but in a lot of ways, it’s a more mature and more relevant film for us today. Think how far this character has come since Batman v Superman?! The past 5 years could have gone real bad.

That mid credit scene was just brilliant. While fun and fan servicy, it still connected to the story. Perfect way to honor the past!
Let’s talk about the real villain of the film. That dude at the end had a flirtatious exchange with Diana in a romantic setting- and willingly WALKED AWAY from her?! Let’s hunt this guy down and destroy him.
