one of the more underrated albums from the past few years, Saba's jazz rap album carries heavy, concious lyrics and has some of the greatest songs of the last decade. i would recommend this to anyone who listens to j cole or kdot
favorite song: LIFE
21: Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030
this futuristic boom bap album is one of the most under appreciated albums i have ever listened to. production, bars and vibe are all so amazing. i don't want to say much more but if u like hip hop, LISTEN TO THIS !!

some of Pusha T's best rapping over some of Ye's best beats, need i say more?

favorite song: Brooklyn
17: Tana Talk 3 - Benny The Butcher
this is the album where i realized how much of a powerhouse Griselda is. i had been into them already, starting w pfp, Lulu and Plugs but listening to this i realized how strong they are, especially Benny

13: Rodeo - Travis Scott
greatest trap album aot. the production and vocals create a psychedelic atmosphere with variation with melodic songs like Maria I'm Drunk, bar heavy songs like 90210 and experimental "scare-the-hoes-away" shit like Piss On Your Grave
favorite song: 90210
12: Kids See Ghosts - Kids See Ghosts
easily Cudi's best project, and my favorite production by ye ever. an album that is very short but doesn't feel to short as it's pacing is condensed perfectly. the sound Ye and Cudi bring here is brand new and i hope they release a sequel...
...in the future, as this album also brings a lot of relateability to audiences who struggle with mental health problems, such as myself.
favorite song: Freee (Ghost Town pt. 2), Kids See Ghosts
11. The Money Store - Death Grips
i don't even consider this a hiphop album as much as it is noise or metal, but everyone else does so it's on this list. this album is just great, i see why tons of people hate it and i totally agree that it's not for everyone but this album...
...is totally for me, i love it to death. i thought of putting The Powers That B here instead but i the runtime on TMS being shorter makes it a better experience for me. the constant loud "AAAAAHHH" feeling this album has resembles an anxiety attack (in a good way). amazing...

favorite song: Hacker, Get Got
10. Manger on McNichols - Boldy James and Sterling Toles
i can't say this is jazz rap because people who haven't heard will assume it's like CARE FOR ME or TPAB and it's not. this album is Boldy James rapping about life in Detroit and as a coke dealer, how it effected him and...
...other people, all while he's doing it over jazz orchestration that i wouldn't assume were hiphop beats if heard them seperately. the production is mindblowing and that along with Boldy's lyricism creates one of the best albums from this year
favorite song: Detroit River Rock
9. Solace EP - Earl Sweatshirt
i prefer this EP over anything else he has released because of my personal experiences with it, but Earl perfectly, and when i say perfectly i mean PERFECTLY creates a musical embodiment of rock bottom, suicide and depression. the mood on this...
...EP captures the feeling of being completely lost in life and trapped within your own thoughts. i listened to this EP for the first time a few months back when i was in one of the darkest times of my life and it was able to hold it's hand out to me and help me get through...
...nights with little sleep, days where i couldn't eat and constant thoughts of hurting myself. this one is ranked a lot higher because of my personal connection to it but it is also one of the greatest experimental HH projects i have ever heard
favorite song: The Truth (Part 4)
8. Atrocity Exhibition - Danny Brown
this album is this album. the name and album cover perfectly describe the chaotic, mentally insane feeling the album brings. bias aside, Ain't It Funny is also one of the best hiphop songs of all time, as it perfectly embodies the feeling...
...of being puhsed past your breaking point while nobody is taking u seriously, and laughing. another detail i like, and idk if its the actual inspiration but i loved how Danny took inspiration from Joy Division's 1980 song Atrocity Exhibition from their album Closer, a...
...suicide note from the band's vocalist, Ian Curtis (RIP). this correlates with the themes of mental illness in Danny Brown's album

peggy has the most unique sound in hiphop rn and is my favorite artist currently putting out music. this album is the perfect example of how creative one can be with their style and production. produced entirely by peggy himself with...
...with only 3 listed features (2 being samples on the same song) peggy brings one of the most unique albums in hiphop history, and this being his 3rd project and better than the last 2, shows how much potential he has to continue growing as an artist. the abstract beats are...

hipohop, rnb, soul, pop all put together to create one of the best hiphop albums of ALL time. this album's legacy is going to carry on for a very long time and i can totally see Tyler's aesthetic and sound on this album becoming very influential...

...as each song carries so much meaning while also carrying a very accessible sound to the album that so many people could enjoy. i listened to this album at least 2 times everyday during my first real heartbreak and it held my hand through everything. this album is like a...
...warm hug from a loved one telling u "it's okay, i understand what u are going through, everything will be okay"

i like when he go "boom boom boom doot skrr grrrrrrr rah fuhck!" hahaha

2. Madvillainy - MF DOOM and Madlib
in my opinion the greatest production on any hiphop album ever. Madlib's work here is insane and is the embodiment of the supervillain vibe DOOM wanted. DOOM's lyricism here is his best by far and forever iconic. this was one of the first...
...albums i ACTUALLY loved as an album. when i was getting into hiphop i would only listen to some songs and never appreciate the full album but TPAB and Madvillainy were the first two i listened to fully often. 22 perfect songs perfectly condensed into a perfect 46 minute...

1. To Pimp a Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar
this album is perfect, beyond perfect, an 11/10, timeless, a classic, a masterpiece, every positive term that could be used for an album but x10. this album feels like an actual movie. i could make an entire thread dedicated to this...
...album and i plan on doing so later on so i'm gonna keep it short here. this album transcends hiphop, not only is it the greates hiphop album of all time, the music here is some of the greatest of all time in ALL genres. i cannot stress this enough, LISTEN to this if you...
