NAVIGATING THROUGH BGW&DGW

DGW - Double Gameweek, BGW - Blank Gameweek,
WC - Wild Card, FH - Free Hit, BB - Bench Boost,
TC - Triple Captain,

A lot of people including me have been thinking about the same issue for past weeks. With BGW18/DGW19 already announced we got recent news about DGW26/BGW29 along with some smaller DGW in between and after.

The main aim of this thread is to give an idea about various ways available to play your chips and make the best use of it for your team. I heard quite a few Podcasts from various Veterans of the game and these are the important parts to be considered while making the decisions.

The FPL Wire:
Fixtures around BGW&DGW are the ones to consider as well. Just concentrating on GW 18/19 won’t help. Many teams who don’t have a DGW and play in the BGW have great pre-BGW fixtures and post DGW fixtures.

OPINION - So having 15 DGW players is definitely not the strategy you can survive with 7-8 DGW/BGW players if you wish to use your BB/FH chip in GW26/29.

FPL Black Box
Teams playing in DGW19 have a period of long rest before the matches. They have FA cup matches before the DGW19 which have a low priority compared to Champions League fixtures before DGW26.

OPINION - The week is preceded by European matches for all the big clubs. Possibly increasing the chances of injuries, rotations which one should consider while making a decision. The time is less between WC & BB but could be a tricky one because of the business end of the season

With the uncertainty of the fixtures in DGW26 which are due to be brought forward from GW29 can just simply be postponed into a latter GW as well due to the television deals with the broadcasters. The number of fixtures played in DGW26 could be less.

To sum it up people like me with WC can maximise it in by playing BB in DGW19 with 10-12 DGW players while using FH in BGW18 or keeping the FH for further use in GW29 depending on one’s own thinking.

Others can still navigate with chips intact for the further Game-weeks. It completely depends on your thinking, playing style and risk appetite while keeping these points in mind and acting accordingly.

A TC on Salah seems a good option in DGW19 or using the FH in DGW19. This time it’s more open without a common template for chips to be used and get the maximum from chips.

For me it looks like WC GW16, FH GW18, BB GW19 for now. Best of luck to you all!
