Rewatched the Pelicans game from yesterday. A few things I saw:
1. The bench depth is trash, specifically at the 4,5.
2. Zion is atrocious on defense.
3. Lonzo Ball has to be aggressive. When he drove yesterday in the first quarter, good things happened.

4. Steven Adams really does take up a lot of space and it can make the half court congested.
5. SVG is sending 4 people to defensive rebound and 1 person streaking. Lonzo Ball’s transition game was neutered because he either couldn’t get the board or no one would pass the ball.

6. Zion Williamson has the ability to make good plays in transition (both scoring and passing) but he needs less dribble drives in the half court.
7. We can’t run the entire offense through Zion and BI. It stagnates the offense and renders everyone else ineffective.

8. Melli is unplayable if he isn’t making shots.
9. Jaxson has no idea what he’s doing, but he’s 20 and new to the sport, just like with Zion he’ll improve with time.

11. Weynan Gabriel needs to return soon. His energy, length and effort will be welcomed.
12. BI has to improve his off ball defense. Simple timing and play recognition. He has the tools.

14. It’s only been two games and due to the shortened off season players are still getting in shape and SVG is still installing things, I think we will be fine, but, we need some movement on offense.
15. There needs to be less plays called for Zion. There needs to be more plays where he’s the finisher in transition and not the initiator.
16. Zion and Bi are both amazing transition finishers, but their bread and butter is half court scoring. They need easier shots.

17. I would like to see more secondary actions. We did a lot of one action and then hold the ball for 15 seconds.
18. We have two all-star caliber players, build a system around them, don’t force things with them.
