Debunking the myth that Michael Jordan had weak finals opponents.

{Thread}
As much as we joke around about MJ playing against plumbers, we have to remember these guys are still Hall of Famers and put respect on their names too.
The 1991 Los Angeles Lakers;

This is a heavily underrated Roster.

The team consisted of Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Byron Scott, Sam Perkins, Vlade Divac and AC Green.

Magic was not “washed” he was 2nd in MVP to MJ. James Worthy also had a great year putting up 21PPG.
The Lakers were the 3 seed in a good Western Conference with 58 Wins.

The Bulls beat them in 5. Michael Jordan had an amazing finals debut and Scottie Pippen also played great. Magic, Vlade Divac, Sam Perkins, and James Worthy all did their thing. Nothing they can do vs MJ.
The 1992 Portland Trail Blazers;

This team finished 1st in the west with 57 wins.

Team consisted of Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, Cliff Robinson, Buck Williams and others. This was also a good defensive team finishing 3rd in DRTG.
Clyde Drexler had an amazing year putting up 25-6.7-6.6, 2nd in MVP to MJ.

The Bulls beat the Blazers in 6. Aside from game 1 these were all close games. MJ had another amazing series, as the Shrug game was this year.

The Blazers were simply outmatched by a superior roster.
The 1993 Phoenix Suns;

This might’ve been the best team Michael Jordan played.

Charles Barkley won MVP over MJ, they also had Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Richard Dumas, Tom Chambers and Danny Ainge. This is a very very underrated roster.

The Suns finished 1st in the West.
Suns lost in 6. MJ had the best finals performance of all time. MJ averaged 41-8-6 and every single game was within 10 points.

To think MJ played like this and they easily could’ve lost really shows how great this Suns team was.
In Jordan’s first 3 Peet, he played against the MVP or the Runner up in voting Every single year.
The 1996 Seattle SuperSonics;

This team finished 1st in the west with 64 wins. This team consisted of Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Detlef Schrempf, Hersey Hawkins and Sam Perkins. This was an extremely good team on both ends.
Sonics lost in 6. As we know Jordan struggled when being guarded by Gary Payton.

Had George Karl had Payton guarding Jordan from the start this could’ve been a very different outcome.
The 1997 & 1998 Utah Jazz.

This is MJs most well known competition in the finals. As we know they had Karl Malone, Stockton, Hornacek, Byron Russell.

We all know who these guys were. I really don’t need to explain. Just watch The Last Dance dude.
Opponents from the first 3 peats averages:
2nd 3 peat:
Jordan faced 9 Hall of Famers in the finals.
