How I Created a Unique Dropshipping Advantage that Turned into $500,000 Revenue at a 25% Profit Margin

A thread 👇
Dropshipping is where you sell a product or line of products without ever holding inventory.

It's really just a fulfillment model. However, many act like it is a get rich quick tool, but it isn't.

To build a successful dropshipping brand, you must build a successful business.
As with anything in business: the more you stand out, the better.

Dropshipping typically means long shipping times (from China), poor customer service, and poor product quality.

If you can improve these aspects, your chances of success increases dramatically.
When I made one of my brands in 2018, I knew the product selection and shipping time would matter most.

I figured if I could get an item made in the United States and shipped quickly, I'd have an advantage.

I couldn't have been more right.
How do you find a product like that?

This is how I did it:

- Browsed Etsy until I found a product that made me go, "wow, that's cool"

- Googled that product to look for similar versions also from the US

- Once I found one I liked most, I contacted the supplier
It's key at this point that the supplier does not have a huge brand presence already.

Check their Facebook, Instagram, etc.

They should have very minimal presence.

Make sure they aren't currently advertising on Facebook using the Ads Library.
When I contacted my eventual supplier, I told them I was in the process of building a website that featured items just like theirs.

I asked if they'd let me list their products and then dropship to my customers.

They happily obliged and never even asked to see my website.
From there, I ordered the product to make sure it was quality. It was.

After that, I built the website and started advertising.

It was a hit immediately.

While luck played into this, it is a process that I will continue to use when I get the itch to build a new brand.
The store did nearly $500,000 in revenue and I eventually sold it back in March.

Why did I sell? I wasn't passionate about the product enough to do what it took to get to the next level.
Etsy is a great resource because many products have personalization options and usually very unique in nature.

Use it to your advantage.
